In the higher education sphere, there is a campus of Charles Sturt University and the School of Rural Health of the University of Sydney. There is also a branch of the Western Institute of TAFE and Western College.
Dubbo is a major centre for medical, dental and hospital facilities, servicing a large population. The Dubbo Base Hospital offers the full range of services including emergency, surgical and maternity and all the services one would expect in a major hospital plus all the usual and allied health services available in a large city. There is also a private and a rehabilitation hospital in the city as well as five aged care centres.
