Far South Coast
This region covers an area from Berry in the north to Eden, very close to the Victorian border and is made up of three local government areas being Shoalhaven City Council and the Eurobodalla and Bega Shires.
The major regional city is Nowra with many towns and villages such as Batemans Bay, Berry, Bega, Bomaderry, Eden, Merimbula, Moruya, Sanctuary Point, Tathra, Ulladulla and Vincentia making up this particularly pristine and beautiful part of the State. The area’s population is almost 173,000 with its key industries being in retail, health care and social assistance, construction, manufacturing, defence, tourism and agriculture.
With over 400km of coastline together with many national parks, the region is the third most visited region of New South Wales. There are 4.9 million tourists including over 70,000 international visitors.
The region has a very productive agricultural area providing export income through the dairy and oyster industries. The area also produces timber, beef, flowers, seeds and wine for both markets and many niche industries waiting to expand.
Each of the three local government areas boast campuses of the University of Wollongong with a wide variety of courses available.
