About Upper Lachlan

Crookwell is located in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. It is the largest centre in the Upper Lachlan Shire and also includes the vllages of Gunning, Taralga, Laggan and Collector to name a few.

Among the many events in the region, the Collector Village Pumpkin festival has been held in May every year since 2003. In September the Gunning Fireworks Festival is held and in October the Southern Highland Branch of the Australian Stock Horse Society will hold their show in Gunning.

Sport and recreation is well catered for in this Shire Amongst the many sports which can be played are bowls, cricket, golf, hockey, rugby league, rugby union, soccer, skateboarding, squash, swimming and tennis. There are also pony, race, gun, snooker and fishing clubs.

There are several pre-schools, a public and Catholic primary school and a high school in Crookwell. There are also public schools in Binda, Bigga, Breadalbane, Collector, Dalton, Gunning, Laggan and Taralga.

There are several doctors surgeries in Crookwell which also has a hospital, dentist, physiotherapy and occupational therapy centre, a pathology service and more. There are also several aged care facilities.
