About Oberon

Oberon is the largest centre and administrative heart of the Shire. There are a number of villages including O’Connell, Hartley and Black Springs.

Apart from the natural beauty of the area and the close proximity to the world heritage listed Jenolan Caves, there are many more attractions in the area. Also the Highlands Steam and Vintage Fair is held in September.

There is plenty to do in the sport and recreation sphere in Oberon. Some of those activities are athletes, equestrian, soccer, cricket, skate parks, netball, swimming, cycling and hockey. There are also many parks, gardens and a dam all ideal for different forms of recreation.

There is a children’s centre and a kindergarten as well as a primary school, a Catholic central school and a high school in Oberon. There is also a public school in Black Springs.

There is a medical centre and pharmacy in Oberon. Also available are a physiotherapist, optometrist and massage therapist. The Oberon hospital is a multipurpose facility catering for both acute and aged care patients. A wide range of services are available through the health service.
