About Jerilderie and surrounds

The Murrumbidgee Shire is situated in the western Riverina and has three major towns – Jerilderie, Darlington Point and Coleambally and several villages. This Shire has evolved from an amalgamation of the Jerilderie and the former Murrumbidgee Shires.

With the Murrumbidgee River flowing through the area, recreation is centred around the water activities of boating, fishing and camping. Go to Jerilderie and trace the Ned Kelly story and his involvement in the town. In Darlington Point, visit the Altina Wildlife Safari Park and visit Australia’s newest town, Coleambally.

Throughout the area, the sports of AFL, badminton, basketball, cricket, equestrian, golf, netball, pistol shooting, rugby league, squash, swimming, tennis, touch football, volleyball and water skiing are available.

Jerilderie has one public and one Catholic primary school. In Coleambally there is a Central School (K-12) and a Catholic primary school. In Darlington Point there is a primary school.

Jerilderie has a 50 bed hospital which provides all the usual services including aged care facilities adjacent. All towns have medical practices and pharmacies.
