About Griffith

Griffith is the administrative centre for the large local government area in the south west of the state and incorporates the towns of Yenda and Hanwood and eight villages which include Beelbandera, Bulbul, Yoogali, Lake Wyangan and Warburn. 

Among the many events run in the town are the Easter Party in April, the Festival of the Sausage in August and in October there is Spring Fest where one of the events are the beautiful roses at the Festival of Gardens.

Most sports are well catered for with archery, little athletics, road cycling, basketball, cricket,netball, hockey, soccer, rugby, tennis. There is an indoor pool complex, 24 hour gyms and a Pony Club being just some of the many recreational activities on offer.

Education is well provided for with 11 playgroups, four pre-schools, 5 long day care centres as well as family day care and after school centres.  Griffith has two public and two catholic primary schools, 2 public high schools and a catholic college.  At the tertiary level, there is a campus of the Riverina Institute of TAFE  and the Western Riverina Community College.

Griffith is a major centre for medical, dental and hospital facilities, servicing a population of 50,000. Griffith Base Hospital boasts the full range of services including imaging services, midwifery and obstetrician, diabetes, pathology, children’s ward and specialist paediatricians, surgeons, a cancer clinic, plus all the allied health services usual in a large city.  There is a good choice when it comes to seniors residential options.
