Although health care and assistance is the largest employer in the Shire, its status as a holiday centre means that retail trade and accommodation and food services are both major employers. These are followed by education and training and construction.
Moruya is the administrative centre of the Shire, however Batemans Bay is the largest town in the Shire which is located on mid south coast of NSW. There are many other towns and villages which include Tuross Head, Narooma, Broulee, Malua Bay, Batehaven, Bodalla, Nelligen, Mogo and Tilba Tilba.
There are many events and activities to choose from in this vibrant Shire. Food is popular in the area and visits to the cheese factories in Central Tilba and Bodalla are well worth a visit as well as many restaurants and markets. Those into flora and fauna might enjoy the Regional Botanic Gardens near Batemans Bay or the Zoo at Mogo or see seals and birds in their natural habitat on Montague Island.
