The Edward River Council is situated in the Riverina region of south western NSW. Deniliquin is the major centre but also includes localities including Blighty, Conargo, Mayrung, Pretty Pine and Wanganella.
Deniliquin is home to a number of great events every year. In February the Edward River Oval Fishing Classic is held and the iconic 2-day Deni Ute Muster held every year in October
Among the many sports which can be played in this wonderful area are AFL, badminton, basketball, bowls, carpet bowls, cricket, croquet, golf, gymnastics, netball, rugby union, soccer, squash, swimming and tennis. There are a number of clubs including tent pegging, pony and horse racing. The Edward River which flows through the town is an ideal venue for water sports such as fishing, boating and water skiing.
For education the area has a number of options. In Deniliquin there are a number of pre-school options, three public and one Catholic primary schools together with a Christian school (K-10) and a high school. There are primary schools in Conargo and Mayrung. There is a campus of the Riverina Institute of TAFE in Deniliquin.
Deniliquin has a Community Health Centre and a 61 bed acute hospital. Services provided include a 24 hour emergency department and maternity, medical, surgical, pathology and medical imaging. Allied health options include occupational therapy, massage therapy, physiotherapy, dietician, podiatry, pathology, chiropractic, acupuncture and speech pathology.
