About Cabonne Shire

Molong is the largest centre and administrative hub of the Cabonne Shire. Some of the other towns and villages are Canowindra, Manildra, Cudal, Borenore and Cumnock. Known as Australia’s Food Basket, Cabonne is situated close to the large centre of Orange in the Central West of the State.

Among the many attractions and events which take place in Cabonne are the NSW Sheep Dog Championship Trials in Molong, Canowindra Balloon Meet in March, Mulga Bills Festival and Bike Fun Ride in July. Molong Players Annual Production in August, Australian National Field Days in October and Cobb & Co Lives on Celebration in December.

There are many sports available to Cabonne residents. Some of these are bowls, cricket, football, golf, pony club, swimming and tennis.

Education is well catered for with a number of pre-schools and playgroups. There are Central Schools (K-12) and Catholic primary schools in Molong and Yeoval. In Canowindra there is one public and one Catholic primary school and a high school.
