Molong is the largest centre and administrative hub of the Cabonne Shire. Some of the other towns and villages are Canowindra, Manildra, Cudal, Borenore and Cumnock. Known as Australia’s Food Basket, Cabonne is situated close to the large centre of Orange in the Central West of the State.
Among the many attractions and events which take place in Cabonne are the NSW Sheep Dog Championship Trials in Molong, Canowindra Balloon Meet in March, Mulga Bills Festival and Bike Fun Ride in July. Molong Players Annual Production in August, Australian National Field Days in October and Cobb & Co Lives on Celebration in December.

Education is well catered for with a number of pre-schools and playgroups. There are Central Schools (K-12) and Catholic primary schools in Molong and Yeoval. In Canowindra there is one public and one Catholic primary school and a high school. In the towns of Eugowra and Manildra there is one public and one Catholic primary school and there are primary schools in Borenore Cargo, Clergate, Cudal, Cumnock, Mullion Creek, Nashdale and Spring Terrace.
For those requiring medical services, there are many available. There are hospitals at Molong and Canowindra and a smaller multi purpose centre in Eugowra. There are medical centres in Canowindra, Manildra, Molong and Yeoval. Community Health Centres are available in Canowindra, Manildra and Yeoval and there is a dentist in Molong. There are aged care facilities in a number of centres.
