About Blayney Shire

Blayney is the largest and administrative centre of the Blayney Shire. Among the numerous towns and villages are the historic communities of Millthorpe, Carcoar and Mandurama.

There are literally dozens of events and celebrations in this historic Shire. Some of them are the Carcoar Village Fair celebrating the establishment of the third village west of the mountains on Australia Day every year. Celebrate winter with the Winter Solstice Festival in June and the Blayney & Villages Winter Wonderland which runs from late June until the end of July and in November, the very famous Carcoar Cup Running Festival is held.

The Sport and Leisure Centre in Blayney has 3 heated pools and a fully equipped gymnasium. The sporting facilities cater for sports such as AFL, athletics, cricket, netball, rugby league, rugby union, tennis and touch football.

For education, there is a pre-school, one public and one Catholic primary school and the high school. In Millthorpe there is a pre-school and a public school and there are public schools in Carcoar, Lyndhurst, Neville and Mandurama.
