About Albury

The major centre and administrative hub is Albury City. Some of the villages in the area are Howlong, Jindera, Wirlinga and Ettamogah.

Among the many activities on in this city are these annual events. In February there is the City2City Fun Run or Walk and Talk, in April the Albury Caravan, Camping, Four Wheel Drive, Fish and Boat Show, in July the Seasons Annual Members’ Exhibition, in September the Write Around the Murray festival, in November the East Coast Sidecar Roundup and the Great Australian Beer Festival is held in December.

There is a huge range of sporting activities in which residents can participate. Among these are athletics, AFL, baseball, cricket, croquet, hockey, netball, rugby league, rugby union, skateboarding, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and touch football.

Education is plentiful with playgroups, pre-schools, long day care centres as well as family day care and after school centres. Albury has twelve public, two Catholic and four private primary schools. There are three public, one Catholic and four private high schools. Higher Education has a strong presence with a branch of Charles Sturt University, the Albury campus of Riverina TAFE and the Riverina Institute National Environment Centre.

Albury has an amazing array of health facilities designed to deal with any health situation. The Albury Hospital is a large facility supplying a 24 hour emergency department, surgical, medical and maternity wards, cancer support, mental health and all the facilities one would expect in a major country hospital. There are also numerous private hospitals, day surgery clinics and a Regional Cancer Centre. A wide range of allied health professionals ply their trade in Albury. Among the many disciplines available are audiologists, dieticians, occupational therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists and podiatrists.
